Date: January 7, 2007
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Location: Home of Barbara Powell ’62
The Bryn Mawr Club of Boston with the help of the Alumnae Association, brought together high school students and their parents, current undergraduates, and alumnae in the area, to further engage their interest in the College. The event was hosted at the home of Barbara Powell ’62. Despite the unusually warm weather and the big Patriots game, 45 enthusiastic people assembled over cookies and tea, to hear the current undergrads and alumnae talk about what they enjoyed and what influenced them most about their Bryn Mawr experience.
Emily Norman ’08 talked about her role and experiences as a Traditions Mistress and the supportive environment of Bryn Mawr. Sarah Tan ’04 shared her knowledge about the various tri-college academic programs and options. Bejay Ugale ’00, Sharon Gershman ’00 and Stephanie Richardson ’05 also spoke enthusiastically about their varied experiences at Bryn Mawr. Alumnae and current undergraduates all voiced their agreement on the amazing friends, professors and colleagues they had met at Bryn Mawr.
Kyoko Yamamoto ’01 coordinated this annual event for the Club, along with Nancy Thaler for Admissions, and Cynthia Washington for the Alumnae Association. Board members Jane Lifton ’76 and Barbara Powell ’62 assisted Kyoko in making phone calls, organizing, and hosting the event. The afternoon’s gathering ended on a surprising note when Jane discovered that one of the dads attending the event was a high school classmate of hers! We look forward to seeing many of these faces again in June when the Bryn Mawr Club of Boston hosts its annual Send-Off Reception for area high school students soon to be this year’s Bryn Mawr freshwomen!
