Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Charles River
Like eating breakfast? Like helping your community? You can do both on Saturday, April 25th at the 10th Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup!
Throw on your favorite Bryn Mawr t-shirt, sweatpants, tote bag and/or hat and join fellow Mawrtyrs in making Boston a little more pleasant. Grab a water bottle and a friend and join us at the Hatchshell at 8:30.
Last year, volunteers helped remove over 20 TONS of trash from the riverbanks. This cleanup really makes a difference and so can you! If you’re lucky, you might even get to pick up trash with some famous volunteers, like Senator John Kerry, who came to the 2007 Cleanup.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead
Breakfast provided by Starbucks and Dunkin’ Doughnuts.

Date: February 23, 2008
Location: Boston Frog Pond
Despite the snowstorm of the day before, the sun was bright for the Young Alums Ice Skating Event on Feb. 23rd. Jackie O’Mara ‘06, Cassandra Phillips-Sears ʼ04, and Faith Wallace-Gadsden ʼ05 spent the afternoon skating at the Boston Frog Pond. After recharging themselves with hot chocolate and tea they decided to make a short walk to Beacon Hill restaurant Bin 26 Enoteca for delicious wine, delicious appetizers, and to continue the wide-ranging conversation on everything from rainforest to biology to cooking.
It was a great, energizing way to spend the day, and I think everyone who came enjoyed themselves, even if we weren’t doing triple axles!

Date: December 8, 2007
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Vlora, 545 Boylston St, Boston, MA
The Young Alumnae Holiday Party at Vlora Restaurant in Boston was a great success. 11 alumnae (Sharon Gershman ’00, Praggya Rustagi ’01, Jessica Varni ’03, Sarah Tan ’04, Sujatha Sebastion ’04, Claudine Johnson ’05, Faith Wallace-Gadsden ’05, Jackie O’Mara ’06, Yarimee Gutierrez ’06, Jesenia Gervacio ’07, Omaira Alicea ’07) and two guests, gathered together over great food to talk and laugh for hours. Some alumnae were recent transplants to Boston while others were from the area or had been living in the city for a few years already. Either way all were looking for a casual and fun opportunity to meet and reconnect with other Mawrters and have interesting conversations. Topics ranged from careers, fun & inexpensive activities to do in Boston such as buying same day Rush Tickets for $8 to the Boston Symphony, and of course travel stories on the T as it turned out that the Red, Orange, and Green Lines were all experiencing difficulties that night.
Vlora Restaurant specializes in Northern Mediterranean cuisine, which covers the regions of Southern Italy, Greece, and Albania, and guests dined on a variety of appetizers including filo triangles stuffed with tomato or spinach and pan roasted zucchini. The desserts were scrumptious, although unfortunately the restaurant ran out of baklava so another trip back to Vlora is definitely in order. Everyone left talking about other restaurants we should try next or possibly having a potluck dinner at one of our apartments.
